'Signed' Jaques St George Chess Set
A 'Signed' Boxwood & Ebony St George Chess Set, Jaques, 19th Century. Rare.
one side in boxwood (with a nice toffee patination), the other side in ebony, bishops with split mitres, kings as carved horses' heads, rooks as monobloc turrets, all the chessmen with original light green baizes to the undersides, the boxwood king stamped JAQUES LONDON (in black) along the base rim, in a wooden box with a sliding lid.
King: 11.2cm high, base 3.9cm diameter.
Pawn: 2.5cm high, 2.6cm diameter.
Box: 21cm x 15cm wide, 11.5cm high.
