The Lyon Pattern was used in France during the 19th century. The ‘Reverse Lyon’ features upside-down bone mounts and as a pattern, is relatively scarce, with sets coming onto the market less often than might be thought.
Unlike the British, the French tended not to season their green wood before cutting, so antique French sets are more than often warped as a result.
