This set was exhibited at Asprey in May, 1986 and at the British Museum in 1993. Michael Mark writes: “That there was a direct relationship between quality and size, however, appears from exhibit 47 in which even the pawns convey a feeling of movement unusual in Chinese sets. The seated kings and queens are uncommon while the seated bishops may be unique among surviving sets.”
