A typical English games box from the Victorian period. The exterior is for chess and features inlaid squares 5.2cm wide. The interior (for backgammon) is nicely preserved with mahogany in a deep rich brown.

Illustrated with a set of suitable early 20th century “ivorine” backgammon counters which are being sold separately.
